Frequently Asked Questions

Booking & Policies

How many weddings do you do in one day?

Since my husband and I are the only employees of Mr. & Mrs. Chuppah, we can only accommodate one wedding per day.

Can I make changes to my contract after signing it?

Changes may be made up to one month before the wedding. Once the final deposit is paid, no further changes are permitted.

Why can’t you accommodate weekday weddings from September–June?

My husband is my only employee and is a full-time teacher, so he is in school on weekdays. We do make exceptions for local weddings with a setup time after 4pm.

Are you insured?

Yes, we have full liability insurance.

Location, Travel & Setup

Where are you located?

We are located in Cherry Hill, NJ. Travel up to 100 miles is included in the cost of the rental.

Can you set up the night before?

This depends on your venue’s policies and how far the venue is from Cherry Hill.

Do you stay on-site the whole time?

No. Once the chuppah is set up, we leave and return after the ceremony for breakdown. Once set up, the chuppah cannot be moved. If you would like us to stay on-site until breakdown, we charge $30/hour.

Outdoor Weddings & Weather

What happens if it rains and my ceremony is outside?

Outdoor ceremonies require a rain plan. The majority of our chuppahs are handmade and not designed to withstand harsh wind or rain. If there is more than a 50% chance of rain on your wedding day (per the National Weather Service at weather.gov), we reserve the right to decline outdoor setup.

Are tents considered “outdoors”?

All of our chuppahs except the Copper Chuppah can be set up in a tent or outdoor pavilion. The Copper Chuppah must be surrounded by four walls and a roof.

Why is the Copper Chuppah only available for indoor weddings?

Although all of our chuppahs are stable, the Copper Chuppah is the lightest. For everyone’s safety, it is only offered for indoor weddings.

Chuppah Details & Sizing

Does the chuppah need a canopy?

Traditionally, yes. A chuppah is not considered complete without a piece of fabric acting as a canopy (such as a tallit, our sheer white canopy, or a family tablecloth).

Can I use my own tallit as a canopy?

Of course! If you don’t have your own tallit, you may use our white canopy free of charge or rent a tallit from us.

We want our parents to stand under the chuppah with us. Which chuppah do you recommend?

We recommend our Cedar (natural or dark) or Lucite Chuppah. If those still feel too small, we’d be happy to create a custom chuppah for you.

Why is your Clear Lucite Chuppah more expensive?

The Clear Lucite Chuppah features an 8’ x 8’ x 8’ frame, making it our largest chuppah. Due to its size, a van is required for transport, which increases the cost.

Florals & Décor

What kind of florals do you use?

We source all of our florals from Ling’s Moment.

I’m providing my own florals. Can my wedding planner put them up?

For liability reasons, only florists or a Mr. & Mrs. Chuppah team member may install florals or décor on the chuppah.

Can you repurpose our chuppah flowers after the ceremony?

Yes! Just email us with details on where you’d like the florals repurposed.

Handheld & Custom Chuppahs

Do you set up the Handheld Chuppah?

Our Handheld Chuppah includes four birch poles with hooks and a sheer white canopy. We drop it off with a wedding planner or another trusted person and return to pick it up during cocktail hour. Handheld chuppahs are only available for weddings within 20 miles of Cherry Hill, NJ.

I’m looking for something custom—what can you make?

We can customize birch, cedar, or copper chuppahs up to an 8’ x 8’ frame. We can also paint or stain the chuppah to match your vision—just let us know what you have in mind!
